What you see in the image to the left is not a projected display of stars and planets, rather its a cave covered in thousands of glowworms in Waitomo, New Zealand. For the leisurely inclined, there is a boat that takes you on a mini safari to view the abundance of arachnocampa luminosa. These pretty little guys are the cannibalistic larvae of an insect who attract their prey by making their poo glow in the dark (ewwwwwwww). If there’s not enough food, they’ll just eat their sibling. If a boat sounds too easy, trade it in for a rubber tube. A blackwater rafting experience will have you abseiling, weaving, climbing, and floating through a dark subterranean cave full of cannibals MUAHAHAHAHA! (The glowworms, remember?)
